John Roland Snyder
MARION — John Roland Snyder, age 78, of 1639 Marion-Waldo Road, Lot 38, formerly of LaRue, died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004, at 7:24 a.m. at Marion General Hospital.
He was born Nov. 22,1925, in Bowling Green Township, to the late Harry C. and Margery (Sager) Snyder.
On Oct. 21,1950, he married Marty M. Stoner and she survives.
Also surviving is one son, D.J. (Carol) Snyder of Columbus; one daughter, Connie (Robbin) Speck of LaRue; three grandchildren, Kyle, Kim and Kacie Speck; two sisters, Cecilia Leppo of Georgia and Elizabeth Hatcher of Belle-fontaine.
Two brothers, Cletus and Daniel Snyder and one sister, Teresa Fields, are deceased.
Mr. Snyder was a farmer, worked at Sears and Quaker Oats. He was a World War II Army veteran, member of Phillippi-Clement Post 101 American Legion of LaRue, had served as commander, 40 & 8 for 48 years, past president of County Legion Post, State Highway Patrol Auxiliary, Elgin School Board member 12 years, Eagles Lodge, Elks Lodge, former Bowling Green Grange . member, board of directors of Green Camp Elevator, charter member Farmers Union, past member of the NFO, member of the ASC, past member of ASC Township committeeman, Marion Senior Citizens, CB Radio Club, Farm Bureau member, committeeman for Bowling Green Township voters for 20 years, Essex North Star Lodge Knights of Pythias, past president of LaRue PTO, member of AAA plus since 1961 and sold DeKalb Seed Corn for 43 years.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 20; 2004, at 1 p.m. at the Stofcheck Funeral Home in LaRue. Minister will be the Rev. Daniel Kiger. Burial in the Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home in LaRue from 6 to 9 p.m. on. Thursday. Graveside.military rites will be conducted by the Marion Area Veterans Council.
Those who wish may make contribudons to the charity of the donor's choice.
