Walter "Jr." Sanderson
Walter "Jr." Sanderson, 80, of rural Marysville died Wednesday, Feb. 25,
2004, at his home.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and was retired from B.F.
Goodrich in Green Camp where he worked for 25 years. He also worked five
years for the Union County Engineer's office and for the last four years
he drove for Kalmbach Feeds. He attended the Pharisburg United Methodist
Church. He enjoyed playing the guitar and attending his grandchildren's
activities. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and his
family was the center of his life.
He was born June 20, 1923, in Marion to the late Walter I. and Flora
Riley Sanderson and was predeceased by two brothers, Harold and Richard;
and a sister, Joann Harrington.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Jane Garee Sanderson whom he married
May 30, 1946, at the Pharisburg United Methodist Church; two daughters,
Sandra (Richard) Ridge of Richwood and Shirlee (Rodney Koons) Sanderson
of Hartsville, S.C.; a son, Steve Sanderson of Kansas City, Mo.;
grandchildren, Shelly, Erin, Lance, Ashley, Logan, Matthew and Nicholas;
a brother, Robert (Marilyn) Sanderson of Salem; and two sisters, Dorothy
Hopkins of Lima and Marilyn Beckley of Marysville.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Stofcheck
Funeral Home in Richwood. The Revs. Geri Lampton and Mo Dunn will
officiate and burial will be at the Broadway Cemetery where veteran
graveside services will be conducted by Richwood American Legion Post 40
and VFW Post 870. Friends may call from 1 to 4 and 5 to 8 p.m. Friday.
Memorial contributions may be made to Loving Care Hospice or the
Pharisburg United Methodist Church.
