Chancy L. Christy
Chancy L. Christy, 91, of Richwood died Tuesday, March 16, 2004, at Heartland of Marysville following a brief illness.
He retired from Urbana Mills after 25 years as a salesman and before that, had worked with.Christy Brothers Produce in Woods-field for 14 years. Following retirement, he was manager of the Richwood Community Apartments for 10 years. He was a dedicated member of the Richwood First United Methodist Church where he served on various boards and committees and as custodian for many years. He served on the board of Memorial Hospital of Union County for 18 years and received his 2,000-hour volunteer pin through the hospital. Many of those hours were spent volunteering at the Rich-wood Civic Center of which he was a member. He enjoyed coon and deer hunting.
He was bom Dec. 27, 1912, in Graysville to the late Robert McClennan "Mac" and Isadore Arbell Byers Christy and was predeceased by four brothers and three sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Elifrede Harman Christy whom he married Sept. 2, 1939, in Woodsfield; two sons, the Rev. James R. (Sandra) Christy of Piqua and Terry K. (Joyce) Christy of Covington; four grandchildren, Laina Makar, Jason "Andy" Christy, Jill R. Arent and Keith M. Christy; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at die Richwood First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Joseph Rhea will officiate, and burial will be at the Claibourne Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Stofcheck Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church at 18 S. Fulton St., Richwood.
