Mildred Marian Glass
Mildred Marian Glass, 87, of Richwood died Sunday, Aug. 8, 2004, at
Marion Manor Nursing Home.
She was a 1935 graduate of Richwood High School, a dedicated member of
Richwood Church of Christ where she served as treasurer, Sunday school
and Vacation Bible School teacher, Ladies Aid president, secretary and
treasurer several times during the years. She worked on the family farm
on Route 4 in Union County just south of Fulton Creek and with the
Fryman Dairy until she married. She had also worked for O.M. Scotts
Company and retired from the Columbus Bank Note Company.
She was a member of the former Mount Carmel Chapter 42 O.E.S., now Mary
Chapter and was a longtime election poll worker in Richwood. She was a
member of the Richwood Civic Center, with which she enjoyed traveling on
bus trips, especially to Nova Scotia, and in later years she belonged to
the Solitaires and enjoyed their activities. She loved her famliy and
was there for every activity they participated in. She enjoyed gardening
and her favorite flower was the pansy.
She was born June 20, 1917, on the family farm to the late Ray and Clara
Rider Fryman. She married Lindsey W. Glass Oct. 27, 1945, at the
Richwood Church of Christ parsonage and he died Jan. 29, 1977. She was
predeceased by a brother, Perry "Bud" Fryman and three sisters, Clarice
Fryman, Pauline Neel and Evelyn Johnson.
She is survived by a son, Gary (Lois Ann) Glass of Richwood; two
daughters, Lynne (Gary) Ledley and Nancy (Jim) Wiley of Richwood; five
grandchildren, Chris and Leigh Ann Glass and Chad, Lindsey and Kyle
Wiley of Richwood; a great-granddaughter, Cheyenne Wiley; and a sister,
Dale Fryman.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Richwood Church
of Christ. The Rev. Scot Gorsuch will officiate and burial will be at
the Shoup Cemetery in Thompson Township. Friends may call from 4 to 8
p.m. Wednesday at the Stofcheck Funeral Home in Richwood.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Richwood Church of Christ
building fund at 29063 Sivey Road, Richwood 43344.
