Robert E. Laird Sr.
Robert E. Laird Sr., 72, of Richwood died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004, at Marion General Hospital.
He was a 1949 graduate of Marion Harding High School and retired from the former B.F. Goodrich and Parker Hannifan in Green Camp. He was a member of Mount Carmel Lodge 303 F&AM in Richwood and Amvets Post 168 in Marion and was a volunteer at Memorial Hospital of Union County. He enjoyed walking his dog, Boo, around Richwood.
He was bom July 20, 1932, in Marion and was predeceased by a son, William; three brothers, Edwin, Lloyd and Pearle; and on Aug. 27, 1992, by his second wife, Bette Jane Jackson Laird.
He is survived by two daughters, Robin Laird-Cleveland and Ronda Lee Laird-McMurray of Marion; a son, Robert "Bo" Laird Jr. of Marion; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his first wife, Janice Marie (Honaker) of Marion; a sister, Ruthe Laird-Cooper of Marion; a brother, Earle W. (Ethel) Laird of Marion; two stepdaughters, Denise Mills and Diana Scheiderer of Columbus; and uncles, aunts and nephews.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Stofcheck Funeral Home in Richwood where Masonic services will be conducted at 7:45 p.m. Private burial will take place at the Claibourne Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to Turning Point of Marion.
