Larry Joseph
Larry Joseph, 58, of Prospect died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005, at his home
following a three-and-a-half year battle with cancer.
He retired two and a half years ago from the North Union Schools where
he taught art for 30 years. He was also for the last 26 years a very
talented woodworker, spending many hours making treasures for many
people. He was a 1966 graduate of Elgin High School and graduated from
Salem College in Salem, W.Va. He also attended Ohio Northern University
and the Ohio State University. He played football and baseball in high
school and football in college. He served in the National Guard for six
years and was a member of the Prospect United Methodist Church.
He was an inspiration to many of his former students for his
determination and for many, it led to a career in art or teaching or
both. One of his greatest accomplishments, along with his wife, was his
vision and reality of Chapel Hill House, a retreat near Morral for
families who are dealing with a child who has cancer. He will be missed.
He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather and teacher.
He was born Sept. 15, 1946, in Pikeville, Ky., to Arnold and Marie
Leslie Joseph and they survive in Prospect. He is also survived by his
wife, Annie Wasserbeck Joseph whom he married Aug. 9, 1970, in Green
Camp; a son, Jason Joseph and his fiancee Jennie Jones of Galloway; a
grandson, Andrew Joseph; a sister, Betty (Jerry) Remlinger of Prospect;
his mother-in-law, Norma Wasserbeck; two nephews, Shon (Sheila)
Remlinger and Brad (Tara) Gilbert; and a niece, Tasha Fetherolf.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Prospect United
Methodist Church. The Rev. David Hoffman will officiate and burial will
be at the Prospect Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at
the Stofcheck Funeral Home in Richwood.
Pallbearers will be Jason Joseph, Dave Cline, John Hyatt, Bill
Almendinger, Shon Remlinger, Brad Gilbert and Lester Grose.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church at 203 N. Elm St.,
Prospect OH 43342, or Chapel Hill House, in care of Kids & Kamp, 3340
Olentangy River Road, Columbus OH 43202.
