Donald Lester Allen
MARION — Donald Lester Allen, age 77, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005, at approximately 8 a.m. at his residence.
He was born Nov. 27,1927, to the late Lester and Hazel (Retterer) Allen.
On July 22, 1950, he married Mary Ann Sheppard and she survives.
Also surviving are five daughters, Jennifer Allen-Moore of Medford, N.J., Victoria (Lanny) Moore-Montgomery of Marion, Laura Alien of Silver Springs, Md., Robin Allen of Marion and Emily (J.D.) Junk of Caledonia; seven grandsons and one great-granddaughter; two sisters, Mary Foos of LaRue and Doris (John) Davis of Bellefontaine; and one brother, John Allen of LaRue. Three brothers, James, Samuel and William are deceased.
Mr. Allen was a foreman at Quaker Oats having worked there for 45 years. He was a member of the Ridgedale Lions Club, officiated high school football and coached Little League, baseball in the Marion area. He was much loved by his family and friends and he will be truly missed.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005, at the Stofcheck Funeral Home in LaRue. Minister will be the Rev. Joseph E. Sopher. Burial in the LaRue Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home in LaRue from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday.
Those who wish may make contributions to the Lions Club Sight Program.
