John W. "Jack" Boyhan
Flag John W. "Jack" Boyhan, 78, of Marion died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005, at
his home.
He built and operated the New Place Drive Thru on the corner of West
Center and Leader streets in Marion. He served his country in the Marine
Corps, fighting in Japan during World War II. He was an active and
dedicated member of the Richwood Church of Christ where he served as a
deacon. He was a man of many interests. He was a private airplane pilot,
played the organ and in recent years was learning to play the dulcimer.
He enjoyed traveling and for several years he and his wife took trips in
their RV with an RV club. They also volunteered for Mobile Meals.
He was born April 3, 1925, in Columbus to the late Thomas and Roberta
Collins Boyhan and was predeceased by a son, Rob Boyhan.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, M. Rita Neiswander Boyhan whom
he married June 2, 1948, at Sacred Heart Church in Columbus; children,
Thomas Lige Boyhan of Holly Springs, Miss., Kathy Laughbaum, Becky
Dutton and John (Diana) Boyhan of Marion and Teea (Dan) Linn of Bucyrus;
nine grandchildren, Patrick Boyhan of Anthem, Ariz., Brian Gilmore of
Columbus, Todd (Alene) Gilmore of Kemp, Texas, Tobi (Isabel) Fleming of
Flagstaff, Ariz., and Maryellen Dutton, Jamie (Cory) Stout, Daniel and
Christopher Boyhan and Janette Fleming of Marion; five
great-grandchildren, Dalton Fleming, Zack and Myranda Gilmore, Michelle
Fleming and Seth Stout; and many dear friends with whom he enjoyed
spending time.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Richwood Church
of Christ where the Rev. Scot Gorsuch will officiate and veteran
services will be conducted. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at
the Stofcheck Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mobile Meals program, 326 S.
Prospect St., Marion, OH 43302.
