R. Delores Gamble
NEW BLOOMINGTON — R. Delores Gamble, age 67, of 8111 LaRue-Prospect   Road,  New Bloomington,
went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 16, 2005, in the Maplewood Nursing Home in Marion, after battling cancer for 17 years.
She was born Nov. 30, 1937, in Mount Victory, to the late Kenneth and Audrey (Kelly) Overly.
On June 17, 1956, she married Pearl D. Gamble and he survives.
Delores enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, collecting Longaberger baskets, her dear cat Whizzy and attending vintage car shows with her husband. She loved attending her grandchildren's sporting events. She dearly loved her family and it was with their love and support that she fought a heroic battle against cancer. She participated in the Relay for Life for many years.
She is survived by her three daughters and four sons-in-law, Denise (Marke) Lyon of Marion, Linda (Mike) Mill of Marion, Marilyn (Todd) Hassinger of Radnor and Thomas Mathews of Caledonia; four grandchildren, Douglas Lyon and Betsy Lyon of Marion and Lauren and Zachery Hassinger of Radnor; two brothers Meredith and Ronald Overly of Kenton.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Kim Elaine Mathews.
She was a homemaker while her daughters were growing up and then she was employed by Whirlpool Corp. from 1979 to 1999. She graduated in 1955 as valedictorian of her class at Forest High School. She was a member of the LaRue United Methodist Church, and the Lvdia Chapter 83 OES.
A celebration of Delores' life will be held Wednesday, April 20, 2005, at 11 a.m. at the LaRue United Methodist Church. Minister will be the Rev. Edward W. Fugate. Burial is in the LaRue Cemetery. Friends may call at the Stofcheck Funeral Home in LaRue from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday. There will be Eastern Star services, conducted by the Lydia Chapter 83 OES on Tuesday at the funeral home at 8 p.m.
Those who wish may make contributions to either the LaRue United Methodist Church Building Fund, the Quality of Life Hospice or the Stefanie Spielman Breast Cancer Research Fund.
