Clarence Friend Sr.
LARUE Clarence Friend Sr., age 73, of 1033 Richwood-LaRue Road, LaRue, was dead on arrival at Marion General Hospital Tuesday, April 26, 2005, at 2:32 p.m.
He was born March 22,1932, in Superior, to the late Elroy and Dorothy (Barnhart) Friend.
On Feb. 13, 1951, he married Margaret Strait and she survives.
Also surviving are four sons, Clarence (Virginia) Friend Jr. of LaRue, Elroy F. (Sunday) Friend of Phoenix, Ariz., Carl Richy (Shannon) Friend of LaRue and Donald Ray (Andrea) Friend of Kenton; five daughters, Mary M. (Tim) Blankenship of Cable, Sharon K. (Steve) Webb of Kenton, Karen M. Lehman of LaRue, Sandra E. Friend of Mid-dleburg, and Michelle M. Friend of LaRue; 20 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; five brothers, Elroy (Garnett) Friend of Waterloo, Everette (Dorothy) Friend, John (Mary Louise) Friend. Danny (Naomi) Friend and Kenneth (Jennie) Friend, all of LaRue; three sisters, Darlene Endicott of Marion, Reba (Merle) Layne of Prospect and Janice (Kenneth) Severt of Marion; stepbrothers, George and Fred Blagg; sisters, Gertrude Knipp, Linda De-Priest, Betty Sayre and Eileen Sherrick; many nieces and nephews. One great-grandchild, two brothers, Earl and Franklin and two sisters, Mary Frances Friend and Hester Strait, are deceased.
Mr. Friend worked in construction doing masonry work. He worked on many buildings in the Marion area. He was of the Baptist faith, liked to travel and loved his garden and family cookouts.
Services will be Friday, April 29, 2005, at 2 p.m. at the. Stofcheck Funeral Home in LaRue. Minister will be the Rev. Fred Blagg. Friends may call at the funeral home in LaRue two hours before service time on Friday.
Those who wish may make contributions to the Arthritis Foundation in care of the funeral home.
