John A. Borland
John A. Borland, 82, of Richwood died early Wednesday morning, June 15, 2005, at the Marion General Hospital.
He was bom Dec. 1,1922, in York Township, Union County, to the ate Zell E. and Ruth Stickell Borland. A sister, Betty Jane Bargar, also preceded him in death.
A lifelong farmer, he was a 1940 graduate of the York High School and member of the Marysville Church of the Nazarene, World Gospel Mission Men with Vision Chapter and the former Mount Pleasant Church of God, and a board member at Camp Union where he spent many hours working. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and hunting.
On April 21, 1946, at the McKendree United Methodist Church in York Center, he married Helen Ruhl and she survives.
Also surviving are children, Russell L. (Florence E.) Borland and Carol L. Borland of Richwood; grandchildren, Rachel (Gregg) Liggett and Christie (Brett) Snider; great-grandchildren, Evan and Averi Snider; and twin sister, Joie Bevis of Richwood.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Stofcheck Funeral Home in Richwood, where friends may call today from 5 to 8 p.m. Pastor Paul Whiteford will officiate and burial will be in the Claibourne Cemetery.
