Murray "Doc" Wainfor
Murray "Doc" Wainfor, 89, of Prospect, died Friday morning, Aug. 26,
2005, at Grady Memorial Hospital, Delaware, after a short illness.
He was employed at the former Prospect Garage. He retired from the
Hercules Lock Shop in Prospect. He also was employed at the Prospect
Laundromat.
He was a dedicated member of Prospect United Methodist Church for 80
years. He loved his family and friends and enjoyed his church.
He was born Jan. 8, 1917, in Prospect, to the late Elsworth and Kathryn
Beard Wainfor. He also was predeceased by a sister, Ava Fritch, and a
brother, Lloyd Wainfor.
He is survived by his wife, Josephine Barks Wainfor, whom he married
Dec. 25, 1938, at the Calvary Methodist Church in Marion. He also is
survived by two daughters, Nancy (Rex) Shaffer and Connie Crist of
Prospect; grandchildren, Beth (John) Boehn, Brian (Kim) Retterer, Brent
Retterer, Lisa Cantor and Brad Hook; great-grandchildren, Jeremy and
Annie Boehn, Cassandra, Jarrod, Dustin, Joshua, Rachel and Colton
Retterer and Jillian Cantor; step-grandchildren, Debbie (David) Tudor,
Ronnie (Cheryl) Shaffer, Randy Shaffer, Eric Crist and Makayla Miller;
step-great-grandchildren, Devin Shaffer and Christopher Tudor; and four
nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Prospect United
Methodist Church. Calling hours will be Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at
Stofcheck Funeral Home in Richwood, and one hour prior to the funeral
service at the church. The Rev. David Hoffman will officiate. Burial
will be in Prospect Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Project Faith (the building fund
at Prospect United Methodist Church) at P.O. Box 6, Prospect, Ohio 43342
or to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation at 960 Kingsmill Parkway, Suite
101, Columbus, Ohio 43229.
Pallbearers will be Larry Barnett, Eric Crist, Max Hoffman, Brent and
Dustin Retterer, and John and Jeremy Boehn. Honorary pallbearers will be
Ernie Gast, Charlie Lauer, Gene Slemmons and Gene Pendleton.
