Richard H. Thibaut
Flag LARUE — Richard H. Thibaut, age 86, of 616 N. High St., LaRue, died Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2005, at 4 a.m. at his home with his family close by his side.
He was born Dec. 27,1918, in Prospect, to the late George and Maude (Kline) Thibaut.
He worked for the railroad and then he served his country when he joined the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged. He was a member of the American Legion Post 584 of Marion and VFW Post 7201 of Marion.
He married Antoinette Sica on Feb. 20,1947.
He and Ann were owners of the OK Cafe of Marion and the Green Candle Bar, the Mel-Bar Restaurant and the LaRue Car Wash and the LaRue Laundromat, all between 1950 and 1964. In 1965, he became LaRue postmaster until he retired in 1987.
He is survived by his daughter, Barbara (Hayes) Carpenter-Castle of LaRue and her children, Richard and Krista Carpenter; and a son, Charles K. Brandel of Plain City. Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Ann of 45 years, who passed away in 1992 and a brother, Max, in 1995.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, Dec. 10,2005, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Cemetery in Marion. Minister will be the Rev. Daniel Kiger. There will be no calling hours. Stofcheck Funeral Home in LaRue is in charge of arrangements. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Marion County United Veterans Council.
Those who wish may make contributions to the charity of the donor's choice.
