John E. Patton
Flag John E. Patton, 65, of rural West Mansfield died unexpectedly Thursday, Dec. 7, 2006, at the Marion General Hospital.
He was a graduate of the Alderson and Broadus College in Phillipi, W.Va.,and was a veteran of the U .S. Navy. A retired physicians assistant, he enjoyed fishing and spending time at Indian Lake, playing golf on the computer, and collecting things such as books, stamps, toys, trains and much more.
The greatest joy in his life was spending time with his dear and devoted family and he will be greatly missed.
He was born Nov. 8, 1941, in Cincinnati to the late Jack Homer Patton and Audrey (Beckameyer) Huber
Survivor include: his wife Paula (Cowgill) Patton, whom he married December 3, 1976; eight children, Jeff Patton of Victorville, Calif., Jerry (Lori) Patton of Batavia, Andrew Patton of West Mansfield, Jennifer (Rick) Berry of Cincinnati, Jill (Greg) Trigg of Marion, Lucinda Gibson of Richwood, Jennifer (Jon) Blevins of West Mansfield and Betsy (Andrew) Fraker of Marysville.
Also surviving are: nine grandchildren: Derek, Hannah, Paige, Whitney, Nevin, Vickie, Lucas, Colton and Drue, his step-father, Gordon Huber of Cincinnati; one brother, Steve (Joyce) Huber of Oregonia; and mother and father in Law, Lucille and R.H. Cowgill of Richwood; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral mass will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Nativity of Our Lord Parish at Ridge and Woodford in Pleasant Ridge in Cincinnati with the Rev. Thomas Axe officiating. Friends may call Monday from 5-8 p.m. at the Stofcheck Funeral Home in Richwood. Burial will be in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Cincinnati where there will be veteran services.
Memorial donations may be made to the St. Marys of the Woods Parish at Indian Lake, Ohio.
