Edward Michael Benson
FlagLARUE — Edward Michael Benson, age 88, of Hardin County, LaRue, died Saturday Aug. 12, 2006, at 2:13 p.m. at his residence.

He was born Dec. 25, 1917, to the late Esley and Anna (Wolf) Benson.

On Nov. 20, 1948, he married Rose Daly and she survives.

Also surviving are four sons, Michael (LeeAnn) Benson of N. Kingston, Rhode island, Patrick (Kristi) Benson of LaRue, Dennis (Kathy) Benson of Mount Victory, and Sean Benson of LaRue; three daughters, Kathleen Benson (Jim Jones) of LaRue, Meg Fown (Duane Harder) of Mount Victory, Mary (Fred) Dutton of Marion; 23 grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren; two brothers, Jim Benson of Marion and Frank Benson of LaRue; four sisters, Alice Cochran of Clarksville, Tenn., Irene Ballinger of Palm Springs, Calif., Mary Appelfeller of LaRue, and Barbara Cronin of Bradenton, Fla.; daughter-in-law Lynn Benson of Ada; sons-in-law Kevin Hensel of Marion and Scott McCIure of Ridgeway; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one son, Timothy Benson, two daughters, Maureen Hensel and Bridget McCIure, grandson Andrew Dutton and great-grandson Michael Burch, three brothers, Walter
Benson, John Benson and Tom Benson.

He was an 1935 graduate of LaRue High School, veteran of World War II, 2nd Armor Division U.S. Army retired from ConRail, had been owner of the former Benson's Pub in Mount Victory, member of the Knights of Columbus Council 500 Dayton, Ohio, Moose Lodge 428 Kenton, William Britton Post 6817 VFW Mount Victory, also the Phillippi-Clement Post 101 American Legion of LaRue, former lector at St. Albert the Great Church Kettering and St. Joseph Church, LaRue, member of the Immaculate Conception Church. Fventon, and numerous conservation clubs.
Ed enjoyed gardening, horses, hunting, fishing and most of all his family.

Memorial Mass will be held Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2006, at 2:30 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church in Kenton.

Also on Wednesday there will be military rites at the LaRue Cemetery at 4 p.m. conducted by the Marion Area Veterans Council. Following the service at the cemetery there will be concluding reception at the Dry Lane Party Barn. The family invites their friends to attend any or all of the above events.

Those who wish may make contributions to either the Hospice of Hardin County or the Immaculate Conception Church in Kenton.
