Elma R. Wood
Elma R. Wood, 97, of Richwood, died Tuesday evening, April 11, 2006, at Marion General Hospital.
She was a 1924 graduate of Essex High School. She was a member of Richwood First United Methodist Church and had worked at the former Boyd's Restaurant in Richwood for many years, where one of her specialties was pies. She also cleaned and did laundry for many people in the community.
She enjoyed fishing and spending time at Indian Lake, sewing and gardening.
She was born Aug. 25, 1908, in Union County, to the late LeRoy and Alona Seaman Harriman. She was first married to Joseph Boyd in 1926, and he died in 1948. She then married Wesley H. Wood on July 10, 1968, at First United Methodist Church and he survives. She is predeceased by a daughter, Sue Boyd; brothers Arnett and Ray Harriman; and sisters Bonnie Erwin, Virginia Smith and June Longshore.
Also surviving are her children, Judy (Rodger) Jones of Lima, and Joe (Vickie) Boyd and Wayne (Gerie) Boyd of Richwood; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Martha Jane Hayes of Canal Winchester; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Stofcheck Funeral Home, Richwood. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Joseph Rhea officiating. Burial will be at Claibourne Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Richwood First United Methodist Church, 18 S. Fulton St., Richwood, Ohio 43344.
