Kate Cramer
Kate Cramer, 78, of Richwood, died unexpectedly Friday, March 10, 2006,
at the Galion Community Hospital where she was in the rehabilitation
center.
A 1945 graduate of Richwood High School, she was retired from North
Union Schools where she was a school bus driver for 25 years and
director of transportation for several years. She was a very dedicated
homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her greatest
joy came when she was surrounded by her family. Her exceptional cooking
was the focal point of every family gathering.
The deceased and her husband shared a lifelong passion for Cushman
Scooters. They took trips on the scooters as far away as Niagara Falls
and traveled across the United States to numerous Cushman Club Shows
during their retirement.
She was born July 31, 1927, in Marion County, to the late C. M. and
Celia Knapp Shields. A brother, Charles Shields, also predeceased her.
She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Paul E. "Doc" Cramer.
They were married Jan. 20, 1946, at her parent's home. Also surviving
are two sons, Rex (Cheri) Cramer of Galion, and Jim (Michelle) Cramer of
Plain City; grandchildren, Adrienne, Jack and Wade Cramer, Jaime Hoy,
Joshua and Sunny Horacek and Katie, Lexie and Sophia Cramer;
great-grandson, Paul Cramer; sisters and brother, Maxine Wilson, Ruth
Webb and Thomas (Sara) Shields, all of Richwood, Emma Cheney of St.
Charles, Ill., and Charlotte (Irv) Markley of Cincinnati; and
sister-in-law, Lee Shields of Delta.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the First United
Methodist Church in Richwood.
Friends may call Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Stofcheck Funeral Home
in Richwood. Burial will be in the Claibourne Cemetery with the Rev.
Joseph Rhea officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to the Richwood First United Methodist
Church, 18 S. Fulton St., Richwood, Ohio 43344.
