Mary H. Gravatt, 78, of Richwood, died Sunday, Feb. 19, 2006, at The Gables at Green Pastures in Marysville.
She was a farmer's wife and deeply devoted to her family. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed gardening and being a homemaker. She was born Feb. 23, 1927, in Robbinsville, N.J., to the late Michael and Julia Alberta Barrett Hoaern. She married Kenneth V. Gravatt on Feb. 7, 1948, in Robbinsville. In 1980, they moved from Allentown, N.J., to Richwood to continue their farming operation. On May 26, 1982, Mr. Gravatt died. She also was predeceased by a sister, Claire Forman. She is survived by two daughters, Maryann Petersohn and Patricia Grygon of Trenton, N.J., and a son, Kenneth V. Jr. (Terri) Gravatt of Richwood; six grandchildren, James Petersohn, Lisa (Dean) Shep-pard; Julia Grygon and Jenna Grygon, and Kyle and Justin Gravatt; two great-grandchildren, Jaret Petersohn and Allyson Sheppard; and two sisters, Joan (Bill) Sauerwald of Berlin, Md., and Nancy Hoaern of Vineland,N.J. Calling hours were held Tuesday, Feb. 21, at Stofcheck Funeral Home in Richwood, and a funeral Mass was held Saturday, Feb. 25, at St. John's Catholic Church in Allentown, N.J. Burial was in St. John's Cemetery, Allentown. Pallbearers were the deceased's grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to the Union County Council on Aging or the Kidney Foundation.
