Theodore "Ted" Miller
Flag RICHWOOD — Theodore "Ted" Miller, age 80, of Rich-wood, died early Sunday morning, Feb. 5, 2006, at the Grady Memorial Hospital.
He was born April 5, 1925, in Fostoria, to the late Walter Dallas and Mavis (Buzzard) Miller. He spent his childhood in Mc-Comb and then moved to Toledo when in the sixth grade. He attended the Stickney Elementary and graduated from Toledo Woodward High School.
Ted spent most summers with his grandparents, John and Amanda Miller in McComb, spending long days on the golf course. He left for the U.S. Navy in February 1943. He was in gunnery on five ships in the South Pacific and Alaska, being discharged in March 1946. He then attended the Toledo University. Ted worked for the Lucas County Auditor, then moved to Rich-wood in 1950 where he farmed and worked for a feed dealer until 1953. He was then employed with the Mill Mutuals and Michigan Millers for 30 years.
Ted was a member of the Richwood Church of Christ, where he was baptized in 1951, and where he served as an elder for almost 40 years. He was also a member of the Richwood VFW Post 879, American Legion Bac-carat Post 40 and long-time member of the Richwood Golf league. Ted enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, golfing and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, the former Kathryn Kirk). They were married at the Richwood Church of Christ on June 14, 1947.
Also surviving are children, W. Kirk (Crystal) Miller of Fairfax, Va., Jeffrey A. (Roxane) Miller of Beverly Hills, Mich., Barbara J. (Jeff) Swartz of Rich-wood and Beckie Jo (Dean) Davis of Richwood; grandchil-dren, Thomas A. Miller, Sarah Miller, Kelli (Andy) Robinson Stacey Miller, Aaron Miller, Kirk Sheppard, Kara (Nick) Lucas, Brian (Jennifer) Davis and Jodie (Frank) Millard; great-grand-children, Corey, Zachary and Morgan Millard, Kamryn Lucas, Hudson and Owen Davis. He was predeceased by four brothers and one sister, Walter, Robert, Richard and David Miller and Violet Miller.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2006, at 11 a.m. at the Richwood Church of Christ. Friends may call Tuesday from 1-3 and 5-8 p.m. at the Stofcheck Funeral Home in Richwood. Minister will be the Rev. Scot Gorsuch. Burial will be in the Shoup (Thompson Town-ship) Cemetery where there will be veteran graveside services conducted by the Richwood veterans.
Pallbearers will be Thomas Miller, Aaron Miller, Kirk Shep-pard, Nick Lucas, Brian Davis and Frank Millard.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Richwood Church of Christ Music Ministry at 29063 Sivey Road, Richwood, OH 43344.
