Henry Lark Nelson
Flag Henry Lark Nelson, 86, of Cardington, died Sunday afternoon, Feb. 4,
2007, at the Morrow Manor Nursing Home in Chesterville.
A veteran of the Army during World War II, he had worked at Sims
Fertilizer Plant in Mt. Gilead for 20 years.
He was a lifetime member of the N.R.A. An avid hunter, especially coon
hunting, he attended the Kenton Coon Trials for more than 40 years.
He was born Aug. 31, 1920, in Portsmouth, to the late Boone and Luemma
Williams Nelson. He was first married to Audrey Marie Malone on May 15,
1946, and she died July 9, 1960. He also was predeceased by a son, Roger
Nelson; a brother, Merlin Nelson; and three sisters, Sarah Perrin, Mary
Daniels and Norma Smith.
Surviving are three sons, John (Cindy) Nelson of Marengo, Raymond
(Brenda) Nelson of Cardington, and Luke (Sherri) Nelson of New
Bloomington, two daughters, Betty (Raymond) Burton of Forest, and
Melissa Nelson of Marengo; his second wife, Rose West of Mt. Gilead; 21
grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; a
brother, George Nelson of Otway; and two sisters, Marie Fuson of Winter
Park, Fla., and Cindy Speakman of Richwood.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Stofcheck Funeral
Home, Richwood, where funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m.
Burial will be at Byhalia Cemetery, where veteran graveside services
will be conducted by Richwood area veterans.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association,
471 E. Broad St., Suite 1630, Columbus, OH 43215 and/or the Disabled
American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
