Violet Clara James Bond
Violet Clara James Bond, 98, died Monday afternoon, Jan. 1, 2007, in
Oklahoma City, Okla.
She was a 1926 graduate of Richwood High School. She enjoyed reading,
traveling and being outdoors, as well as teaching Sunday school and
Bible study. She was highly involved in the Women's Society of First
United Methodist Church (WSCS) in Richwood, and was a founding member
and first president of the Navy Mothers Chapter in Richwood in 1967.
She lived most of her life in Claibourne and Richwood, as well as in St.
Mary's, and most recently in Oklahoma City, Okla.
She will be fondly remembered as a humble, hard-working, deeply religious person.
She was born Oct. 31, 1908, on a farm near Richwood, to the late Clyde
Earl and Iva Mae McAllister James. She moved to Springfield, and was
married to Stanley Herman Bond who preceded her in death. She also was
predeceased by her brother, Lester James; half-brother, William Earl
James; granddaughter, Erin Leigh Hess; and son, Ronald James Bond.
Surviving are her half-sister, Mildred Moore of Kansas; daughters,
Marilyn (Blaine) Bond Hess of Arizona, and Dolores (Michael) Bond Elias
of Oklahoma; son, Duane Bond of Colorado; a grandson, Chad Hess;
great-grandsons, Justin and Peter Hess of Ontario, Canada; as well as
many nieces, nephews and friends in Ada, Bluffton, Richwood and
Claibourne, Ohio, and in Kentucky, Tennessee, Florida, Minnesota and Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Richwood First
United Methodist Church, where friends may call from 10 a.m. until the
time of the service. Burial will be at Claibourne Cemetery, with the
Rev. James Christy officiating.
Stofcheck Funeral Home in Richwood is in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be given to the North Union District Veterans Memorial.
