Lester Smith, 78, formerly of Claibourne, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002,
at The Gables at Green Pastures after a long battle with cancer.
He was a welder at Marion Power Shovel and a member of United Steel
Workers Local 1949. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a
lifetime member of American Legion Post 40.
He was born Dec. 24, 1923, in Skeetrock, Va., to the late Kendrick and
Mary Moore Smith and was predeceased by three brothers.

Maxine Vivian Daugherty, 89, passed away at her home August 2, 2004 in Sun City, Arizona. She was born May 20, 1915 in West Virginia to the late Tilmon A. and Lucy M. (Jividen) Bowles. She married Lester D. Daugherty November 5, 1932 and he survives. She moved to Ohio in 1937 and lived in Morrow County for 10 years. She then moved to Prospect in 1947 and resided there until 1999 when she relocated to Sun City, Arizona.
