Marie Clara Poe, 87, formerly of Richwood died Friday, July 14, 2000, at
the Delaware Court Health Care Center. She was a mother, cook and homemaker, and member of Community United Calvary Church of Richwood. Bom Nov. 9, 1912, in Salyersville, Ky., she was the daughter of Ollie and Delia Miles Perkins. On Jan. 1, 1941, she was married to Corbert Poe, who died Dec. 18, 1983. She was predeceased by two daughters, two sons, two brothers and a sister. Survivors include her children, Stella Tillman, Lydia Peck and Jewell Laughrey of Richwood, Orpha Johnston and Mildred Huffman of Marion, Dottie Martyr of Dayton, Cecil Poe of Marion, Melvin Poe of Marysville, Ralph Poe of Ashville, Ala.; sisters, Rosie Amett, Polly Arnett Meriel Rice of Salyersville, Ky., and Vernice Short of Dayton; and brothers, Edgar Reed and Dewey Simpkins of Salyersville, Ky.; 45 grandchildren; and many greatgrandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Ballinger Funeral Home in Richwood with the Rev. Fred Cheney officiating. Burial will be in Claibourne Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Contributions may be made to Community United Calvary Church memorial fund with cards available at the funeral home. | |||
