Franklin O. Russell


Franklin O. Russell, 73, of Richwood, died Friday morning (Aug. 20, 1999) at his home.
He was born Nov. 6, 1925, in Marion, to Frank Edward Russell and Mary Ethel (Packer) Russell.
Mr. Russell was a World War II Navy veteran, serving on the USS Louisville in the Pacific. He was a retired home builder and enjoyed visits to Heritage Restaurant in Richwood for coffee and friendship.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Lillian C. (Sellards) Russell; two sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond D. and Linda Russell of Richwood and Phillip E. and Peggy Russell of Marion; three grandsons, Bryan, Chad and Eric; a brother, Kenneth Russell of Tampa, Fla.; two sisters, Pauline Newman of Bowling Green and Ruth Hollinger of Sebring, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Mabel Russell of Marion; and numerous nieces and nephews. An infant daughter, Phyliss Ann, and a brother, Harold Russell, preceded him in death.
Visiting hours will be Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Stofcheck Funeral Home, Richwood, where a funeral service will be held Monday at 10 a.m., with the Rev. David Hoffman officiating. Burial will be in Grand Prairie Cemetery, Marion, with Richwood Baccarat American Legion Post No. 40 and VFW Post No. 870 conducting veteran graveside services.
