In 1960, with a adventurous spirit, they packed up all their belongings and kids and moved to Anchorage.  Dale worked as an electrician and Lois a homemaker.  Dale was killed in a plane crash in 1969 near Sparrevohn and then she moved to Salem, Oregon so her boys could attend a Christian school.
