Vesta “Betty” Christian

Vesta “Betty” Christian, 98 of York Center, died Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at Memorial Gables in Marysville.

She was born December 10, 1925 in Oak Hill to the late John Barnhart and Elva (Leonard) Crabtree Barnhart. On November 30, 1940 she married Otis Christian and he died June 15, 1995. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sherry Marsh; brothers, Myron Crabtree, Blair Crabtree and a granddaughter-in-law, Sheryl Spiers Furer.

Betty and Otis enjoyed their many trips to Florida and Canada, which they also shared with their family. She attended the Somersville Friends Church for many years. Betty enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is survived by her four children, Evan (Judy) Christian, West Mansfield; Sharon (Russell) Marsh, Marysville; Diana (Ronald) Clyborn, Mt. Victory; and Margo Furer, Mt. Victory.

Lovingly known as “Hey You” by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she is survived by five grandchildren, Ronda (Jeff) Ritzler, J. R. (Paula) Clyborn, Tammy (Joseph) Crozier, Richard Furer, Andrew Furer; 10 great-grandchildren, Brooke Clyborn, Nick (Delaney) Clyborn, Bethany (Alex) Mulcahy, Elizabeth (Zach) Donovan, Jordan Furer, Evan (Renee) Crozier, Emily (Jagar) King, Wyatt Furer, Abigal Furer, and Eleni Ritzler; eleven great-great-grandchildren; and her sister, Joan (Jack) Brown, Marion.

Funeral services will be Friday, January 26, 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood, with Pastor Ken Perdue officiating. Burial will follow at York Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service, beginning at noon.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Somersville Friends Church.

Evan, Sharon, Diana, Margo and families, Please accept my deepest sympathy at the death of your mom. She was a sweet lady, and I know you will all have wonderful memories of her to sustain you in your grief. She was a wonderful friend to my mom, and I will miss her.

I am so sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. She lived a good long life and I have fond memories of growing up with the Christian family in York Center. God bless you all.

To the family of Betty: it was always a special joy seeing her in church on Sunday. She was such a kind, welcoming lady and her 3 daughters followed in her footsteps. May God comfort you in this time of grief.
