Jack E. Dean
Jack E. DeanBird Gold FinchJack E. Dean, 87, formerly of Prospect, died Saturday, September 2, 2023 at Mercy Health – Fairfield Hospital in Cincinnati.

He was born April 14, 1936 in Raymond to the late James Gilbert and Mildred (Collinson) Dean. He was also preceded in death by a brother, James Lee Dean.

On September 28, 1957 he married the former Patricia Bollack in Marysville and she survives.

He worked as an equipment operator for Union County Engineers. He was a gifted handyman and there wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix (or at least try). He and Pat were avid birdwatchers who traveled the world to get glimpses of rare birds. He was the world’s greatest purveyor of “dad rhymes”, able to come up with a rhyme on the spot. Most of all, he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Jeanette Dean, West Jefferson; Jim (Johnna Grieble) Dean, Marion; Kelly (Dale) Vlastnik, Johnson Creek, Wisconsin; Judy Dean, West Jefferson; Beth (Tim) Burns, Cincinnati; Dave (Maribeth) Dean, Avon Lake; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Monday, September 11, 2023 at 2:00 PM at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood with the Rev. Dale Vlastnik officiating. Burial will follow in Raymond Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.

Memorial gifts may be made to The Nature Conservancy, 4245 N. Fairfax Drive, Suite 100, Arlington, VA 22203 (preserve.nature.org).
