Phyllis I. Griffith
Phyllis I. GriffithPhyllis I. Griffith, 87 of Richwood, died early Sunday morning December 19, 2021, on her birthday, at the Memorial Hospital in Marysville.

She was preceded in death by her mother: Lucille (Whipps) Roberts, her husband William Lee Griffith, they were married August 15, 1953. Also preceding her in death was her son, Jeff Griffith and Clyde Carter, who helped raise her.

Phyllis was a lifetime resident of Richwood. She graduated from Richwood High School in 1952.

Early in her career, she was the secretary for Claude Swartz Ford in Richwood. When the dealership was sold, she went to work for Charles Auto Parts as the secy/bookkeeper. In 1987 she was hired at the Farmers Insurance Group in Columbus, where she remained until her retirement in 1997. After retirement she enjoyed traveling and going on Cruises with family and friends. She also could be found training the families Field Trial dogs on the back country roads. She loved traveling all over the United States to attend Field Trials and met some very special friends - Jerry and Susie Herbig of Freeport Il, and dozens of other close field trail friends.

She was also the Secy/Treasurer for many years of the Richwood Independent Fair Board and continued to help in the Speed Office at the horse races.

But her greatest joy was her family. She loved attending North Union Football, Basketball, Volleyball Games, Track Meets and most recently being able to watch her great-grandson play baseball. She also spent many days making dinner for the Girls Basketball Teams and they were particularly fond of her Lasagna or Spaghetti. She also loved to watch Jeff play Fastpitch ball.

One of her greatest fears was water (thanks to Bill almost drowning in the Richwood Lake their Sr year of high school) but she was able to put some of her water fears to rest to go on a couple of cruises with Bill and friends. She also was able to take a trip to Lake Erie and travel by Boat to Kelley's Island and enjoy time with Family.

Surviving is her daughter: Deborah Lewis, Richwood
Grandchildren: BJ (Jenna) Griffith, Richwood, Cyndi (Tom) Ross, Richwood, Chrisy (Mike) Visconti, Cardington and Gina (Dan) Snodgrass, Richwood

Great Grandchildren: Brennan Griffith, Luke and Leo Visconti, Austin Schindewolf, Wyatt Griffith,

Deb and extended families,
Everyone who knew your Mom will miss her smile and presence...
I remember in my young years going coon hunting with you. I too liked the stay overs. She always made you feel welcomed. Of course, we still miss brother Jeff who stood up at our wedding almost 45 years ago. Sending strength, prayers and love. 🙏 ❤
