Ronald L. Malone
Ronald L. MaloneOhioStateRonald L. Malone, 69 of Marion, formerly of Prospect died Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family following a lengthy battle with cancer.

He was born June 9, 1947 in Marion to the late Donald L. and Ruth June (Cook) Malone.

On November 30, 1968 he married the former Yvonne Willey in Prospect and she survives in Marion.

A 1965 graduate of Galion High School, he was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force.  He attended the Calvary Bible Baptist Church in Marion, and had formerly attended Prospect United Methodist Church.

Ron worked for Columbia Gas in Marion and Delaware, retiring after 30 years of service.  He more recently worked at the Kroger Fuel Center in Marion.

He proudly served as a Red Coat at Ohio Stadium during football games and was known for giving out buckeyes at the games.  Ron had a very outgoing personality; he never met a stranger.  He enjoyed following the Ohio State Buckeyes as well as the Cleveland Browns and the Cincinnati Reds.  He also enjoyed grilling out with his family.

He loved following his grandkids and coaching his kids in Prospect when they were younger.

Besides his wife, Yvonne, he is survived by two sons, Doug (Jennifer) Malone, Granville; Matt (DoRae) Malone, Upper Sandusky; a daughter, Kerri (Jeremy) Sullivan, Green Camp; eight grandchildren, Megan Malone, Madeline Malone, Levi Malone, Adrian Malone, Ashley Oney, Peyton Oney, Kade Sutherland, Lillian Fogle; a sister, Vicki (Dave) Meek, Leawood, Kansas.  He was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Mylo Long.

Funeral services will be Monday, September 26, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Calvary Bible Baptist Church in Marion with Pastor Floyd Radabaugh officiating.  Military honors will be conducted by the Marion County United Veterans Council.  Friends may call on Sunday from 2 to 5 PM at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Prospect.

Memorial gifts may be made to Calvary Bible Baptist Church, 1419 Linn-Hipsher Rd, Marion, OH 43302.

    We are sincerely sorry to hear of the passing of your husband and the kids father. Cancer is a hard disease to fight. If there is anything we can do, please don't hesitate to us know.  Holy Father please be with Yvonne and family at this time of loss.please send your Angels to comfort them and assure them of your presence. Very sorry to read of Ron's passing. We worked together at Columbia Gas and Ron provided some amusing distractions from the mundane plant department work. A sad time but some good memories!

ron lived on Heron lane  was my mom -dads neighbor I worked with ron @ marion Industrial center and I think whirlpool ron was a great guy to work with always had a smile and chat with and made the work day a lot of fun even if we was having a bad day ron would have us laughing at the end
