Ruby J. Davis
Ruby J. DavisYellowRoseRuby J. Davis, 92 of Richwood, died Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at DeWolfe Place in Marion.  She had been living there for the past five years and had been ill for the past two weeks.

She was a native of Richwood, born May 21, 1923 in Paintsville, Kentucky.  She was the daughter of George and Bessie (Salyer) Merryman.  She married the late James W. Davis of York Center on August 21, 1952.  She was a 1941 graduate of Richwood High School.  Ruby was a member of the First Baptist Church in Richwood and an active Richwood Civic Center member, playing in the Kitchen Band.  She was a retired secretary working for various companies, including WMRN, Ohio Edison and O. M. Scotts in Marysville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Dorothy (Edwin) Kelly; a brother, George Merryman, Jr.; stepdaughter, Veta Hondros, nephews, Gary and Larry Jackson, and special friend, Kenneth “Doc” Welty.

Ruby will be remembered as a devoted wife, a loving aunt and endearing friend.  She had a beautiful and friendly smile for everyone.  She will be deeply missed by nieces, Carol (George) Showalter, Jr., Richwood; Sondra Ricksecker, Marion and her son, Donald Thomas Spitzer, Jr., Tarboro, North Carolina; nephews, Ronald Jackson, Sr.; Kenny and R. J. Jackson, Marion; James (Nancy) Jackson and their two daughters, Lesley and Lisa, Phoenix, Arizona; her step-daughter, Sharon (William) Hyde, Alpena, Michigan; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and niece, Chytasia Kelly, Springfield.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt “thank you” to all the wonderful nurses and staff, especially Cory Rogers at the DeWolfe Place for their tender loving care.  They would also like to thank her special friends, Velma James and Helen Little at the DeWolfe Place for all the enjoyment they gave her.   Also, a special thank you to Sarah and Juanita of Kindred Home Hospice for their loving care and support.

Funeral services will be Friday, February 26, 2016 at 6:00 PM at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood with Pastor Joe Rhea officiating.  Friends may call two hours prior to the service, beginning at 4:00 PM.  Private burial will take place in York Cemetery.

Many fond memories of Ruby & Jim. They were our neighbors at York Center. Spent many hours with them.

Ruby and my aunt Laura Cheney Kuba shared many laughs and happy times together.  They are truly missed.

Ruby was a special friend. She was always stopping by to say hello and catch up when she was still driving. She will be missed.

I have known Ruby since I was a little girl.I used to walk Pearl St. to go to school and I would stop and visit with Mrs.Merryman and Ruby and Callie their neighbor.They were good people. God's peace upon you Ruby.

Please know you are in our thoughts and prayers. We have many good memories of Ruby when we were neighbors and then later when she moved to Richwood. She will be missed.
