They say that "Family isn't always blood. It's the people in your life that want you in theirs; the ones who accept you for who you are. The ones who would do anything to see you smile and who love you no matter what."
I can't really think of a better explanation than that for my mom and her BFF. It's a rare, unique, and beautiful bond that these two have shared since Kindergarten.
Although my heart is aching and so heavy for the loss of Melinda, I am so thankful to have known her my entire life. I love the picture below because it captures the essence of love and laughter that was shared.
To Melinda:
Thank you. Those words do no seem enough, but thank you for loving my mom unconditionally. Thank you for sharing crayons, toys, stories, laughter, heartaches, and joys long before she was my mom. Thank you standing by her and being there for her in ways and in times when I couldn't. Thank you for building your bond of friendship stronger over the years and becoming part of our family. Thank you for spreading your beautiful love, creativity, and light to my family and to the community that you have taught for so many years. You are loved, missed, and cherished eternally. heart emoticon
