I am so sorry to hear about Jerry's passing. I worked with him for almost 10 years at Bohl Equipment (76-85). In fact, he was my trainer when I first started. He was an excellent mechanic and instructor on all things relating to forklifts. We spent a lot of time together traveling from job to job for a couple months until I was finally cut loose on my own.

He also had vicious sense of humor :). One of the guys we worked with (Larry Chase) had a lift out on the pad working on it. Jerry and I walked up to see how it was going. Jerry had a ball peen hammer in hand that Larry didn't notice. When Larry wasn't looking, he'd start a steady rapping on the cast iron counterweight on the back of the lift. That sounded amazingly like an engine knock. Larry would get a funny look on his face and spend time trying to figure out what was going on. Jerry would stop for a bit before starting again. That went on for some time while Jerry and I were trying to keep a straight face...

There was also the time one winter when he was late for work. The night before we had a good bit of snow come down. He was driving his Volkswagen. He went over top of a snow drift in the road where apparently plows from a side road had left the snow and got stuck on top. The belly pan was resting on the drift and the drive tires weren't making any contact...

He was a good guy and I was privileged to call him friend. After I 'left' Bohl, we lost touch, I'm sorry to say. But I've never forgotten the time I spent with him. Prayers for your family.
