It was a privilege to know Carol Mae Oberdier. The last time I saw her was the last time I preached at Claibourne UMC in 2009. I could see that she was failing. Now that she is gone, I can only thank the Lord for her. She was a Sunday School teacher for a group of boys (Rex Davis, Mike Davis, Dean Cook, and me...maybe others). I still remember her sharing the Gospel in class and visibly crying as she prayed that we boys would come to know the Lord. I will never forget that heart. She and Paul also used to pass out flyers about missionaries. She had a great influence on my life and I thank the Lord for her. Here at her passing, I pray that the family will know of her influence and also that they will follow her Christian example. It must be a part of the Ridge family heritage. Her brother, Ralph, had an equal influence on me. What a lady and what a family! May the Lord bless you.

I only knew Carol Mae for a short time.  But I quickly came to cherish my visits with her.  She was dedicated to her faith, she was proud of her family, she cherished her friends, and she had an infectuous smile.
The family of Carol Mae will continue to be in my prayers

How I wish I could have been with the family today as you said goodbye to Carol.  She will be sorely missed.

Although she married my second cousin she always felt like an aunt to me.  And then she and Paul always made Phil, Lyndi and me feel very welcome after my mom and dad died.  I'll remember Carol for all the family dinners around that large dining table.  She was always an encouragement and support of our missionary work in Bangladesh and the Philippines.

May the Lord comfort all her family in this time of sorrow.
