Charles Arthur Hans Newcombe
Charles Arthur Hans NewcombeCharles Arthur Hans Newcombe, age 23 of Prospect passed away early Friday morning, May 28, 2010 at home.  He was born June 20, 1986 in Columbia, South Carolina to Ralph Edwald and Gloria (Redlich) Newcombe who both survive in Prospect.

Hans loved his family.  His dad worked hard to provide for the family, including a good Christian education. His mother worked hard making their house a home. He was so thankful that she stayed home to take care of them. His oldest brother led him to Jesus Christ when he was a child and he accepted Christ as his personal Savior. He enjoyed many talks and fun times with his parents, his two brothers, Gregory Ralph Ian Newcombe, Lynchburg, Virginia; Nathan Andrew Joel Newcombe, Prospect; and his two sisters, Christabelle Joy Newcombe, Prospect; and Annabelle Gloria Newcombe, Prospect. A closely knit family, his parents led them in family devotions (worship) every evening, after supper, while still at the table. He was so thankful that they ate every meal together as a family. The Lord Jesus Christ was really the Head of their home; He provided the bonding that held them together.

Hans, his third name, is what he went by. His parents ministered in Awana Clubs. Each one of their children began Awana when they were three years old and completed the program through high school, earning the Citation Award. His youngest sister has worked up to junior high Awana and is looking forward to completing the program through high school. He was so thankful for the Bible foundation he received through Awana and home school.  He appreciated the education he was receiving at Bob Jones University, where he was a sophomore in the Christian Ministry Curriculum. His family is serving in both Cornerstone Alliance Church and CCF Baptist Church.

Friends may call on Thursday, June 3, 2010 from 9 to 10 AM in the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Prospect.  Graveside services will follow at Prospect Cemetery at 10:30.  A memorial service will be held at the Cornerstone Alliance Church, 2010 Marion-Marysville Road, Marion, at 12 Noon the same day with Pastors Tim Miller and Steve Whitaker officiating.

Memorial gifts may be made to Awana (www.awana.org), 1 East Bode Road, Streamwood, IL 60107-6658

Although Hans did not work in my Bible Club group, he was faithful to be in his group. I talked with him on many occasions, both at Bible Club and at Church. He was shy until a question was asked him and then he opened up. We are thankful that he knew the Lord and served Him!

I am extremely sorry to hear about your loss. I am the Vice President of Theta Chi at BJU.  It was a privilege to get to know your son during his time at BJU.  He was very proud of the work he had done, and I enjoyed letting him take me around the webpage he had built, and tell me about the various projects he was working on throughout the semester.  I am very glad to know that one day I will be able to see him again in Heaven, where we will be able to glorify the Lord together before His throne.I am sorry that we cannot be at the service, but I can assure you that you have the prayers of the entire Theta Chi society behind you right now.

Dear Newcombe family,
I am very sorry about your loss. I go to Bob Jones and knew Hans because we were in the same society. I got to know Hans a little bit this past year, and his love for Christ was very evident. I was able to pray with him at Mission Prayer Band and on other occasions as well. Hans was a great encouragement to me, and I was deeply grieved to hear of his passing.

I know that all of the men in Theta Chi are going to miss Hans greatly as a part of our society. This is a very sad and hard time, but I know that God is in control and that He will accomplish something great as a result of this event.

I also got to know Joel a little bit as well. He went with me to extension one time (we sat next to eathother in a Jeep on our way to Hope Baptist). Joel, I am very sorry about your loss. I am praying for you and for your family during this trying time.

I look forward to the day when I can see Hans again. I know that day is coming, and I know that Hans is experiencing the glory of God even as we speak.

Sincerely,
            Phil Harrell

As with many others who have posted I realize that you don't know me, but I got to Hans at BJ through some mutual friends and going to some meals with him.
