Joseph Edward Pertuset
Joseph Edward PertusetFlagJoseph Edward Pertuset, age 66 of Prospect passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at Marion General Hospital with his family and friends by his side.  He was born July 28, 1943 to Joseph M. and Pauline C. (Crabtree) Pertuset in McDermott.  His father survives in Otway along with his father’s wife, Gathel.  His mother Pauline preceded him in death in 1986.

After proudly serving his country in the Vietnam War, he married his best friend, Susan Marie Wolf on January 7, 1967.  Together they loved and raised their four children, Shon (Jonell) Pertuset, Prospect; Shane (Heather) Pertuset, Marion; Nicole (Chris) Hardman, West Liberty and Natalie (Willis) Clark, LaRue.  His eleven grandchildren were his pride and joy:  Chelsea, Paige, Wyatt, Payton and Preston Pertuset; Stacy Blankenship; Joshua and Christian Hardman; and Emily, Avery and Colton Clark.  He was anxiously awaiting the arrival of Kenzley Jo, his twelfth grandchild, due in March.  He was like a son to his mother-in-law, Ruby (Harold) Iams, Big Island and father-in-law Richard Wolf, Marion.  He was loved dearly by his brothers-in-law and their families, David Wolf, Marion; Donald (Terri) Wolf, LaRue; and Dennis (Jean) Wolf, LaRue.  He had several nieces and nephews that loved and respected him.

Joe had just lost his one and only brother, Ronald Dale Pertuset last week to cancer.  Ron’s wife, Gaila and their family, Jenni (Steve) Lawrenz and Meg, Ian (Charlotte) Pertuset and family and Tonya (Jeremy) Hatfield and family survive in Seattle.  It must have brought a smile to his mother’s face to have both of her boys home in a week’s time.

Joe was dedicated to his job for over 30 years at Fairfield Engineering.  He made very special friends at Fairfield, and enjoyed playing euchre on his lunch break with his co-workers.  He was known as the homerun hitter and enjoyed his years playing softball in Marion.  He loved dancing with his wife, and his craft was woodworking.  In 1998 his health forced him into early retirement.  During the last twelve years his hobbies included his grandchildren, keeping weeds out of his beautiful flower beds and playing cards with his very close family and friends, Dale and Catherine Linstedt and Steve and Sharon Leeth.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 1, 2010 at 11:30 AM in the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, LaRue with Pastor Naomi Beckel officiating.  Burial will follow in Prospect Cemetery where the Marion County United Veterans Council will conduct military honors.  Friends may call from 2 to 6 PM in on Sunday.

Memorial gifts may be made to the American Lung Association, 1950 Arlingate Lane Columbus, Ohio 43228 (www.ohiolung.org) or the American Cancer Society, 870 Michigan Ave, Columbus, OH  43215 (www.cancer.org).

Natalie, Willis, Emily, Avery and Colton,

Please know that you all are in our thoughts and prayers. May you find peace and comfort knowing that Heaven is Eternal Life and you shall meet again and it will be a glorious day.

Almighty Father, eternal God, hear our prayers for Joseph whom You have called from this life to Yourself. Grant him light, happiness, and peace. Let him pass in safety through the gates of death, and live forever with all Your saints in the light You promised to Abraham and to all his descendants in faith. Guard him from all harm and on that great day of resurrection and reward raise him up with all Your saints. Pardon his sins and give him eternal life in Your kingdom. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

With our deepest sympathy,
The Saturday Family
David, Kathleen, Dominic and Gia
