James Cassius McAllister
James Cassius McAllisterJames Cassius McAllister 90, passed away Sunday, October 25, 2009.

James was born on November 23, 1918 and was raised in Richwood. He worked with his father baling hay and worked for his brother in a coal yard. After moving to Texas he worked 2 years for the Navy Base and 28 years at the Catalina Motel and later for the Catalina Condominiums. He was a proud and dedicated member of Second Baptist Church since the 1950’s. He was loved very much by his family and will be missed.  James was preceded in death by his father Floyd McAllister, mother May Potts, sister Julia Mantel of OH, also his brother Paul McAllister and sister-in-law Cille McAllister of Corpus Christi, Texas.

He is survived by his niece Joann (Bill) Pettit of Corpus Christi, Texas, a nephew Gary (Tee) McAllister of San Antonio, Texas; grandnieces Sheri Pettit, Houston, Texas, Lisa (Robert) Cash, Atlanta, Texas, Lesa Bess Angel, Houston, Texas and grandnephew David (Renee’) McAllister, Plano, Texas. He is also survived by 2 great –grandnieces, 3 great-grandnephews and 1 great-great-grandniece.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 30, 2009 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 30, 2009 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel.

Graveside services will be held Monday November 16, 2009 at 11:00 am at the Claibourne Cemetery, Pastor Joseph Rhea will officiate. Stofecheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood is in charge of local arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Good Samaritan Rescue Mission, P.O. Box 65, Corpus Christi, Texas, 78403.
