Michael Patrick Anderson
Michael Patrick AndersonNotreDameMichael Patrick Anderson, age 74 of Prospect died peacefully early Wednesday morning February 18, 2009 at his home.  He was born October 24, 1934 in Marion to the late Neal and Kathryn (Herlihy) Anderson; he was also predeceased by his wife Flora Mae (Reaper) Anderson and brother Walter Anderson.

He worked for 30 years at Pollack and Armco Steel.  Michael was an avid hunter and sportsman, and a loyal Notre Dame fan. Mike was a member of the American Legion in Prospect.  A veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps, he was a 1943 graduate of Marion St. Mary’s High School where he was a talented athlete, playing basketball and football.  He also played baseball for the American Legion.

He is survived by Children: Michael P. (Judith) Anderson, Edison (Penny) Roberts, Barbara (Dale) Carr, Mark Vaughan, Lisa Reed, Kate (Mike) Shaffer, Beth (Michael) Lehman and Rhonda (William) Sampson
12 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren
Sister: Mary Ann Daum
Special sister in law: Donna Mitchell

A private memorial service will take place at a later date. Burial of his cremains in Ireland will follow.

I graduated from St Marys in 57 and played 3 sports with Mike. I also worked with him briefly at Pollack. What I will recall most is his strong spirit, great athletic ability and his kind heart. We are richer for his life. My condolences to your family.

When I seen this in the paper my first thought was you and I hope you are doing o.k.. It's hard to lose one parent, but now you have lost both.

i'am sorry to the family and just found out about mikes death. mike and i lived on mary st only 4 houses apart and were best friends all the way through school and long after. we played all sports together and had many fun times together. he was the best at everything he tried. i will truly miss him and he will be in my thoughts until i die.
