 Florence, SC - Roy M. Allen, 52, died Monday, February 18, 2008
Funeral services will be Thursday Feb. 21, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Layton-Anderson Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Pine Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery, Timmonsville, SC. Mr. Allen was born in Lawrence County, Tennessee, the son of Ruth Marie (Sigrist) Allen and the late Ray Melvin Allen. He was a graduate of North Union High School in Richwood, Ohio. He was a member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church. Mr. Allen was a member of Hampton Lodge F&AM and Leonora Chapter OES. He was an avid golfer, he loved his family, his church and his Eastern Star family. Surviving are his mother of Richwood, Ohio; his wife, Linda Elkins Allen, Florence; one son, John Ryan Spears, Leesburg, Ohio; two daughters, Elizabeth (Bobbie) Lawrentz, Delaware, Ohio, Amanda (Larry) Mefford, Springfield, Ohio; one sister, Arlene (Keith) Garvin, Fremont, Ohio; two half- sisters, Rebecca Davis, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and Roberta Sorenson, Albuquerque, New Mexico; two grandchildren, Madeline & Tommy Lawrentz. He was preceded in death by a half-brother Robert Dunn. Memorials may be made to Pine Grove United Methodist Church, 2635 S. Center Rd, Timmonsville, SC, 29161. Visitation will be today (Wednesday) from 6 to 8 p.m. at Layton-Anderson Funeral Home, 4210 W. Palmetto Street, Florence. Eastern Star Rites will follow the visitation.
