Martha Alice Gilbert Phelps

Martha Alice Gilbert Phelps, 84, of near Marysville died Monday, Dec. 26, 1994, at her residence after a 7-month illness. She was a member of the Blue Star Mothers of America in Marysville and TOPS. She was bom Aug. 5,1910, in Marion County to the late Milford and Bertha Kepler Gilbert. She married Marvin Edwin Phelps on March 13,1959, and he died Jan. 10,1977. She was also preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers. She is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Pauline Voochis, of Venice, Fla., and Martha Jean Sturgeon of El Paso, Texas; one son, James Elsworth Streng of Lake Erie; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; three great-greatgrandchildren; two sisters, Esther Ferrin of Honda and Princess Haberrnan of Marion; and a special friend, Richard "Dick" Dawson of Marysville. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Ballinger Funeral Home in Richwood. The Rev. Jeff Acker will officiate and interment will be at the Maskill Cemetery near Marysville. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Tricare Hospice in care of Memorial Hospital of Union County.
