Joseph Franklin Isler Sr.
Joseph Franklin Isler Sr., 82, of Prospect died Friday, Aug. 20, 1999 after
a short illness.
After his father's accidental death during the depression, he struggled for
many years to keep the family farm. Even though he was retired, he spent
every day living and loving his farm life and being actively involved in the
day-to-day activities of the 100-year-old farmstead, Creekdale Farm, which
was well known in the registered Shorthorn cattle breed. He served on the
Marion County Farm Bureau board of directors and with the Marion County
Soil. and Water Conservation District. He was a member of the Prospect
United Methodist Church and the Ohio cattleman's Association. His family
loved his light-hearted anecdotes of life and farming.
He was bom Aug. 16, 1917, in Marion County to the late Frank D. and Abigail
Hecker Isler and was predeceased by two brothers, John Jacob Isler and
Rudolph Isler and a sister, Ivadelle'Oswald.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie; a son, Joe (Connie) Isler Jr. of
Prospect; a daughter, Kathleen (Gary) Lama of Prospect; two granddaughters,
Abigail (Dan) Gafrney and Laura (Robert) Goodman of Marion; and
two step-grandsons, Jason Swartz and Nathan (Teresa) Swartz of Richwood.
The Rev. David L. Hoffman will officiate at private family graveside services
at the Prospect Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Prospect United Methodist
Church memorial fund, 203 N. Elm St., Prospect, Ohio 43342.
The Gehm-Ballinger Funeral Home in Prospect is in charge of arrangements.
