Benjamin E. Ransome
Benjamin E. Ransome, 74, of Richwood died unexpectedly Wednesday, Dec. 30, 1998 at Marion General Hospital.
He was a Merchant Marine veteran of World War II and a devoted member of Grace Baptist Church in Marion. He was a farmer, worked at the former Tecumseh plant in Marion and retired from the Sun Ray Corp. in Delaware He was a member of William Britton VFW Post 6817 in Mount Victory.
He was born April 23, 1924, in Claibourne Township to the late Walter B. and Florence E. Kile Ransome and was predeceased by a son, Walter "Pete" Ransome; a brother, Abram Ransome; and two sisters, Rachel Newhouse and Mary Ransome.
He is survived by his wife, Polly Otto Ransome whom he married June 7, 1979, in Columbus; three sons, Richard (Connie) Ransome of Monk Corner, S.C., and Stephen (Jackie) Ransome and Troy Ransome of Richwood; three daughters, Joyce (Don) Roar of Prosgect, Lori (Mike) Phillips of Green Camp and Tammy (Mark) Hempy of Prospect; 17 grandchildren; five greatgrandchildren; and a sister, Ruth (Harold) Simmons of Richwood.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Stofcheck Funeral Home in Richwood. The Rev. C.L. Fuqua will officiate and burial will be at the Claibourne Cemetery where graveside military services will be conducted by the Mount Victory VFW post. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 5455 N. High St.. Columbus, Ohio.
