William L. "Bill" Griffith
William L. "Bill" Griffith, 67, of Richwood died unexpectedly Thursday evening, Sept. 26, 2002, at the Marion General Hospital.
A current member of the Richwood Village Council, he was a lirector of the Ohio Harness Horseman's Association, a member of he Richwood Matinee Club and original member of the "Grumpy Old Men Stable." He was known in the Richwood Gazette for his writings as "Race Track Willy," was a former member of the Rich-,vood Fair Board and member of the Essex K of P, the Central Committeeman for the Republican Party in Union County, had formerly played fastpitch softball for the Hunt Milling Team, was an avid sup-Dorter of North Union athletics and had formerly coached Little League Baseball in Richwood. A 1952 graduate of the Richwood, High School, he was retired from the Richwood Post Office after 36 years of service and currently worked part time at the Richwood, Cardinal. He was a member of the Richwood Church of Christ.     I
He was born Nov. 24, 1934, in Waldo to the late Charles Wilbur1 and Zita Bosley Griffith. On Aug. 15,1953, at the Richwood Church of Christ, he married Phyllis I. Roberts and she survives.
Also surviving are children, Jeff (Phyllis) Griffith and Deb Lewis of Richwood; sister, Sally (the Rev. William) Osborne of Hamilton, Mich.; grandchildren, Cyndi, Chrisy and B.J. Griffith and Gina (Chris) Selover; and great-grandchildren, Brennan Griffith and Grace, Joel and Faith Selover.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Richwood Church of Christ with the Rev. Scot Gorsuch officiating. Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Stofcheck Funeral Home in Richwood. Burial will be in the Claibourne Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the North Union Lady Cat Basketball Team for their trip to San Diego. Mailing address is North Union High School, c/o Brian Terrill, 401 N. Franklin St., Richwood, Ohio, 43344.
